Welcome to my little corner of the internet. My name is Cindy Hernandez, and creating the impossible is my mission as a Creative Director and Visual Effects Artist. I am on a quest to leave my footprint through the magic of cinema, the power of visual storytelling, and a captivating love for fine art and design. It is a dream, to work alongside brilliant minds that need help bringing an idea, a concept, or even a theory to life.

My Journey

My journey has a distinguishing start. I am a Southern peach with Latin roots, born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Coming from Mexican-Honduran descent, my creativity is embedded with colorful, rich culture, topped off with southern charm and hospitality. My life has revolved around family, work, and art. Deciding to train my creative mind, polish my keen eye for detail, and extract my technical expertise and understanding for visual storytelling at Savannah College of Art and Design was the best decision thus far. Achieving my degree proved to be its own project with unique challenges. Amidst my first experiences of grief, a global pandemic, family milestones, more grief, and building a life for myself while making a day-to-day living, I completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Visual Effects from Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, Georgia. Through my challenges, I discovered the ability to transform visions into captivating realities by blending technology, science, and art.

My Philosophy

Visual effects are more than just a tool and another step in a production pipeline; they are a language that enhances narrative and emotion through the power of visual storytelling. Problem-solving an impossible puzzle and birthing creativity to life is a magical feeling. I seek that "feeling" in all my work —the feeling where body, mind, and spirit meet. It’s the feeling every creative person has when you know your work is just right.

My Work

Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects and alongside creative minds, From interior design, websites, and social media management, to event hospitality and commercial advertisement videos. Each project has presented unique challenges that have allowed me to use my skills and push the boundaries of what is possible.

I specialized in Houdini for particle effects and simulations, as well as in digital textures and matte paintings. I developed a deep love and enjoyment for the art of technical lighting and directing. I dabbled in computer science and fine art as a way to stay at the forefront of the industry. My work is characterized by a diverse use of mixed media. Every decision has a driven purpose to create an impact that transports the viewer into a new world, experience, memory and/or moment.

Why I Create

At the heart of my work is a deep love for visual storytelling through art. There is a desire to inspire and amaze, while leaving my footprint. I hope one day my art serves a greater purpose to inform the generations that come after me that we are all creative creatures.
